She and her husband Richard founded and, for years, lovingly tended to the internationally renowned Dry Creek Herb Farm in Auburn, California. They have lectured extensively at such venues as the Smithsonian Institute and International Herb Symposiums, and co-authored the critically acclaimed book, "The Herbalist's Garden (Storey, 2001), as well as the beloved childrens book, "The Herbalist of Yarrow." Shatoiya and Richard live in the Kootenay Mountains of British Columbia.
